Ah Counter
What: The Ah Counter keeps track of the number and types of “crutch” or “filler” words used by members during the meeting.
Who: All members may perform the Ah Counter role.
Why: Many of us are unaware that we use crutch and/or filler words and just how frequently we use them. Crutch and filler words take away from our presence, our professionalism and our message. Having someone listen for, count, and report them back to us helps us recognize and correct them, which directly improves our communication skills and our confidence.
How: The Ah Counter listens for and records all crutch or filler words (such as ah, um, so, etc.) and reports them when called upon for the Ah Counter’s report.
