Grammarian

What: The Grammarian is responsible for selecting the word of the day and for commenting on the use of the English language during the course of the meeting.

Who: All members may perform the Grammarian role.

Why: We strive to continually increase our vocabulary and also ensure that we are using proper English.

How: The Grammarian selects a word that can be incorporated into the meeting theme. The word is presented at the beginning of the meeting with the proper pronunciation and an example or two of its usage in a sentence. The members try to use the word during their speaking opportunities. The Grammarian will listen for excellent word usage and language as well as incorrect pronunciation, over-used words or phrases, misuse of words, etc. The Grammarian keeps track of all of the members that have used the word of the day as well as their use of the English language. The Grammarian reports their findings when called upon for the Grammarian’s report.
