Table Topics Master
What: The Table Topics Master prepares and manages the impromptu speaking portion of the meeting.
Who: Everyone from beginners to advanced level Toastmasters that are familiar with the particular role and its unique responsibilities may be the Table Topics Master. Guests are asked at the beginning of the meeting if they would like to participate in the session. The Table Topics Master usually tries to select people that do not already have speaking opportunities.
Why: The Table Topics portion upholds the Toastmasters tradition in that every member gets an opportunity to speak. It allows the members to practice “thinking and speaking on their feet.”
How: The Table Topics Masters prepares the Table Topics Session ahead of time by thinking up creative ideas and/or scenarios to challenge members with. The Table Topics Master normally uses the theme of the meeting as the basis for creating the session. The Table Topics Master normally talks about a topic or asks a specific question and then selects a member from the club to speak about it for about 1 to 2 minutes.
