Timer
What: The Timer is responsible for recording and reporting the speaking times.
Who: All members may perform the Timer role.
Why: Prepared speeches, evaluations, and table topics are all timed. The members practice time management by aiming to keep their speaking time within specific guidelines. The speakers need this feedback to measure their performance and enable them to continually refine their time management skills.
How: The Timer begins timing the prepared speeches, evaluations, and table topics as soon as the speaker begins speaking. The timer notes the exact time the speaker concludes. The Timer has three colored cards or lights that they display to indicate the progression of the timing.
Green = speaker has reached the minimum target.Yellow = speaker is halfway between the minimum and maximum target.
Red = Maximum target has been reached.
